Mary Torrence

Mary Thomas Torrence, CEO/General Manager of Media Dimensions Advertising, which she co-founded with her husband, David, in 1999. Prior to the startup of Media Dimensions, Mary worked as Account Manager for Cox Radio in Atlanta. Her background includes more than 20 years experience in advertising with West Wayne Advertising, McCann-Erickson, The Reiman Agency and Earle Palmer Brown. Positions held range from Media Planner/Buyer to Media Director on accounts including BellSouth Mobility, Georgia-Pacific, Scientific-Atlanta, SunTrust Banks, Bank South, Atlanta Gas Light Company and the United States Navy. Mary's most rewarding work is that of Founder/Executive Director for Students without Mothers. This is the work that makes a difference!

Renee Alson, originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, currently serves as the Senior Director of Marketing & Media for the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, GA. She has formed professional relationships with some of Atlanta's top Radio Stations & their executives by effectively creating successful radio campaigns for some of their most prestigious clients. She & her husband currently reside in Conyers, GA with the youngest of her 3 sons, Alexander. Renee's most prized goal is to continue to serve as a role model for other women and youth & to encourage education and growth to reach their full potential. Adrienne Anbinder, originally from Brooklyn, New York studied at The School of Visual Arts & the Art Students League. After moving to Atlanta in 1988, she started her own ad agency with her husband in 1991, called Creative Consultants, Inc. Here she creates TV commercials, web-sites, logo-designs, direct mail campaigns, and radio spots. Adrienne and her partner/husband created January Moon, a nonprofit production house. January Moon produces videos, PSA's, and print campaigns for organizations such as: The DeKalb Rape Crisis Center, The Women's Resource Center, and Students without Mothers. Adrienne and Barry handle the design and development of promotional materials for SWM.

Olivia Buckmon is a retired BellSouth Advertising & Publishing Corp. executive. Her entrepreneurial spirit & a willingness to help others, has led her in her personal business as President/Owner of Serenity by Jennifer, Inc. In her professional life, she is one of the Founding Members of the Elite 100 Black Women of Stone Mountain, Member/Board of Directors - National Assn. of Black Telecommunications Professionals Member, Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church and other civic organizations. Olivia is a graduate of the University of South Carolina/Oglethorpe University. In addition to her responsibilities as In-Kind Donations coordinator, Olivia will chair the 2006 SWM annual fundraiser luncheon.

Kathryn, and her husband Greg Kenith, are owners of Flooring Design Group, Inc. in Doraville, GA. She has a strong business background in finance, strategic planning, economic development and manufacturing. She is well-traveled and has worked with young people in places as far away as Italy. Kathryn is a community activist who has been involved with projects at Piedmont Park, the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, Children's Healthcare Services of Atlanta and the Ronald McDonald House. She has a passion for young people and for giving back. She is currently pursuing her Life Coach certification because she strongly believes in helping others bring about positive change in their lives. Kathryn and her husband reside in Atlanta. As a SWM board member, Kathryn is responsible for the Life Coaching Program.

Tiffany Cochran Edwards is a reporter for WXIA 11Alive News.  She is a Los Angeles native and she attended Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA where she obtained a B.A. in broadcast journalism.  Tiffany’s distinguished career began in 1991 at WFXG in Augusta, GA. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the Atlanta Association of Black Journalists, the Atlanta Press Club, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the National Council of Negro Women, and she is on the Board of Trustees for Morris Brown College.  Tiffany is an advocate for raising the public’s consciousness about brain tumors, and she enjoys working in the community and mentoring young people.  Tiffany and her husband, Javarro Edwards, live in Stone Mountain.  As a SWM board member, Tiffany is responsible for media awareness.

Susan Henderson was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay-area. After high school and attending college she met and married Dr. Vernon Henderson and started a family. She worked in advertising at the Wall street Journal for several years before deciding to become a stay-at-home mother. In 1998 Susan and her family relocated to the Atlanta area for a job opportunity for her husband. In 2001 she became a CASA( Court Appointed Special Advocate) for Dekalb County and used her skills as a mother to compassionately fight for the rights primarily of the children and families involved. Susan is the Secretary for SWM and handles counseling referrals for students.

Susan Stine is a Director of Development at Georgia State University, and has extensive experience working for and advising universities, non-profit organizations, and foundations on strategic planning and development issues.  She earned a bachelors degree from Michigan State University and masters degrees from MIT and Ohio State University.  As a member of the Board of Students Without Mothers, Susan often helps scholarship recipients with financial aid and curriculum issues, and navigating the higher education system.
