Volunteers Needed!!!

Students Without Mothers is in need of volunteers. Our yearly volunteer areas include:

Annual Fundraiser tickets:  

1. Major fundraiser held in May annually

2. Designed to raise funds, recognize scholarship recipients and honor sponsors and donors

Volunteer Needs:  30 Volunteers to each sell 4 tickets at $100 each. (Those unable to donate $100 will typically make a donation of some kind).

Announcements/tickets and any additional information needed will be mailed in January.  The fundraising period is January through mid April (approximately 12 weeks).

Annual Silent Auction:

Fundraiser guests will have an opportunity to network and shop the annual SWM silent auction. We need volunteers to acquire silent auction donations for this event.

Volunteer Needs:  20 Volunteers to acquire silent auction donations such as dinner certificates, spa certificates, hotel stays, airline tickers, jewelry, electronics, artwork, catering services - just to name a few.

Volunteers will receive a silent auction package in January with details on what donors receive.  The fundraising period is January through April (approximately 12 weeks).

Celebrity Casino Night Benefit:

1. This event is an evening of entertainment including playing casino games, dancing and mingling with celebrities

2. Event date is Saturday, September 20th from 7 pm - 12 am at the Smoke Rise Golf & Country Club

3. Tickets are $50 each (corporate sponsorships are also available)

Volunteer Needs:  50 Volunteers to sell 5 tickets at $50 each

Tickets and other details will be provided by mid June.  The fundraising period is mid June through September (approximately 12 weeks).

Bloomingdale’s Shopping Benefit:

1. Event includes a day of shopping discounts, entertainment, fashion shows, etc. at both Atlanta stores

2. Tickets are $10 each with SWM keeping 100% of proceeds for tickets sold by SWM volunteers.

Volunteer Needs:  50 Volunteers to sell 10 tickets at $10 each

Tickets and details on when and how to submit funds will be sent out by mid August.  The fundraising period is from mid August through mid October (approximately 12 weeks).

Other Volunteer Needs:

We are also seeking volunteers for our Life Coaching Program.  These volunteers work one-on-one with an assigned student helping them in various areas including problem solving and decision making.  Life Coach volunteers must attend a two-hour training session and must be able to make a one year commitment.  Additional coaches will be trained in first quarter 2009.  For more information please contact Kathryn Kenith at 404-771-4400 or kathrynk@fdgl.com.
